Add Item Tutorial

Adding a book to your collection and optionally listing it for sale:

bullet pointNavigate to the Add Page.

The Add page

bullet pointEnter the ISBN and click "Lookup".

ISBN Lookup
  • You can enter the book without using the ISBN lookup if you prefer or if no ISBN is available, simply enter a title (with ISBN/Author if you wish).

bullet pointIf the ISBN could be found then the title and author fields will be populated.

  • If the ISBN could not be found you should enter the title and author. If the ISBN was not valid an error message will show this.

  • Before you add the book you can select the owner of the book.
  • Normally this would be you so choose "I Own this" which should be the default.
  • If you are adding this to a friends collection, or if this is a book you have borrowed (e.g. from your local library), you can select one of your friends (member, or a non member).

  • At this point you are taken to the Edit page, the book has been added to your collection, with basic default information
  • Now you can (if you need to) alter the properties.

  • To list your book for sale:
    • Enter a sale price,
    • Ensure that the "Sell to" field represents who you wish to sell to (all members or just to your friends).
    • You should also set the postage prices. Please note that the currency for shipping is the same as for the sale price.
    • Default shipping values can be set through the preferences screen.
Editing the sale price

bullet pointClick "Save and Continue" to save your changes and return to the Add page.

  • You can choose to edit your book at any time and change the properties, including adding or removing for sale by altering the "Sell To" field.
  • The following fields will default to your preference settings when adding a new book:
    • Category,
    • Location,
    • National and international standard postage,
    • Currency.
  • Tick Wish List Item if you do not own this but would like to.
  • Identifier is your own personal identifier for the book.
  • Ticking the Private option will cause the book to be hidden from every one (other members and friends) other than yourself.
  • Private Notes field is not available to be viewed by anyone other than the owner.
  • No Longer Own indicates that you no longer own the book (e.g. you have sold it). If the item is listed for sale but you have "No Longer Own" ticked it will not show up in search results. This option is useful if you wish to keep a log of the books you have owned (so preventing you buying books you have already read).
